THE STUDY

Presented at the 2014 Annual meeting of the Eastern Society for Pediatric Research, this study investigated whether SVS reduced irritability and enhanced respiratory rhythm generating circuits to promote healthy breathing.

THE FINDINGS

In the sample of 11 methadone/buprenorphine exposed infants when SVS was turned on excessive body movements were reduced and the stability of healthy breathing improved. The study concluded that SVS may provide a complementary intervention for NAS infants
